And yet there is one main character from the film series who is still nowhere to be found on the TV show. Reviews weren’t exactly nice on The next karate kidBut given the place that film and its characters have in the overall story, many fans are still hoping that Swank’s Julie Pierce will finally meet Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence and Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso. In a new interview on Live with Kelly and RyanSwank went straight into the possibility, revealing that the ball is not in her court. She seems open to the idea of coming back as Julie on the Netflix series, but says that so far no one has called her that much, let alone an offer to return.
“I’m not participating Cobra Kaino one asked me to join Cobra Kai‘ said Swank, via People. “A lot of people ask if I participate in it. It’s like the number 1 question I get.”
She added: “Nobody called me! … but it’s so funny, isn’t it, that’s the one thing I get asked the most and nobody called me?”
“After today, that’s going to change, Hilary Swank, I can promise you that,” Ryan Seacrest said.
Will she or will she not return in Cobra Kai?
This revelation follows a recent interview in which Swank gave a… Cobra Kai question, but this new interview makes it much clearer where Julie Pierce stands with Cobra Kai. Prior to the season 5 premiere, the show’s creators also slyly teased that there could be a return of Julie Pierce, leaving some fans wondering if she’d make an appearance in season 5. Of course, as we now know, that wasn’t supposed to be, although there’s always season 6.
“All we can say about her is that we love Hilary Swank,” co-creator Jon Hurwitz said in a Fandom interview. “We think she is a phenomenal actress and we love her character in this franchise. She was taught by Mr. Miyagi and she is someone important to the karate kid universe.”
He added: “We can’t say if she will return, we can’t say how she would return if she did return. We can say we talk about her and maybe we met her, maybe we met her “We can’t tell you anything! It remains a question until she shows up or the series ends.”
There’s been some talk about it Cobra Kai are delayed, so it may be a while before we see new episodes. In any case, the time may finally be right to bring Swank in for its sixth season.
