Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes continues to show how much she is done with Hollywood. After finishing her conservatory and embarking on a rap career, Bynes now attends beauty school seeking a path to earn an honest living in the manicure industry. Although it is not clear how far the she is the man actress is in cosmetology school process, she has been out of the acting industry for years after officially announcing her retirement in 2010. In 2013, she took to Twitter to explain.

“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it seems. If I don’t like something anymore, I stop. I don’t like acting anymore, so I stopped. I know 24 is a young age to retire, but you heard it here first.”

Bynes is not afraid to move from one field to another

Bynes made a brief return to acting to star in the 2010 film Easy A, but later said she “couldn’t stand” her appearance in the film, which she said convinced her it was time to quit acting. She explained that Procession magazine,

“I was high on marijuana when I saw that, but for some reason it really started to affect me. I don’t know if it was drug-induced psychosis or whatever, but it affected my brain in a different way then it affects other people. It absolutely changed my perception of things. I saw it, and I was convinced that I should never be in front of the camera again and I officially retired on Twitter, what, you know, was stupid too. If I were to retire [the right way]I should have done it in a press release – but I did it on Twitter. Really class! But, you know, I was high, and I was like, ‘You know what? I’m so over it,” so I just did it. But it was really foolish, and I see it now. I was young and stupid.”

In 2013, Bynes was placed in receivership over substance abuse issues, a settlement that was not ended until March 2022. Since then, she has been candid about her plans for the future, including earning her degree from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.
