Saturday Night Live Spoofs Ned Fulmer’s Try Guys Exit, Gets Response From Fans

Lately, there’s been a lot of attention for the Try Guys, the internet comedy group that recently fired one of its members, Ned Fulmer, over a “workplace consensual relationship” he had with one of the producers of their online show. The group posted a video to YouTube explaining what happened, though they opened themselves up to criticism during the trial, making accusations that they would over-exaggerate the drama of the situation to get more attention for their videos.

In each case, Saturday Night Live addressed the controversy with a new sketch with host Brendan Gleeson, who are SNL debut on Saturday night. The skit sees Gleeson as a CNN correspondent who interrupts the news to reveal that the Try Guys have released a video about the Ned Fulmer incident. Gleeson is portrayed as a huge fan of the group, while his co-anchor, Ego Nwodim, is clearly unenthusiastic about bringing the scandal any further.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Try Guys in the sketch, arranged on a couch to resemble the original video, are played by Bowen Yang as Eugene Lee Yang, Mikey Day as Zach Kornfeld, and Andrew Dismukes as Keith Habersberger. The comedians condemn Ned’s actions, as the skit goes on to mock the trio for claiming to be traumatized by what happened.

“Due to the trauma we face, our editors are working around the clock to remove any trace of Ned from past Try Guys content,” says Dismukes.

Day adds: “It will still be amazeballs, but it will also be sadballs. We are all dealing with this horrific, violent and probably racist tragedy.”

The Try Guys fall victim to Saturday Night Live

Fans of the Try Guys don’t seem happy with the Saturday Night Live parody. That has been a lot of criticism from some fans who have spoken out against the show for making fun of the incident. Some say an issue like infidelity isn’t something to be taken lightly, while others suggest that Ned Fulmer should be friends with the writers of SNL.

“Was I the only one who got a little bit extrapolated by those Try Guys Saturday Night Live sketch?! I’ve heard rumors that one of SNL“Ned’s writers are friends with Ned and after that…I believe so,” one wrote Twitter.

Responding to a message from one of the group members about the skit, one fan wrote back: “wow…acting like cheating is NORMAL and should be accepted. Disgusting behaviour.”

Naturally, SNL has never been a series to shy away from controversy, and there’s a good chance these complaints won’t see the series hit the water again and again in the future. You can watch the full episode of Saturday Night Live on Peacock.
