Selena Gomez opens up about her mental health in the trailer for her upcoming Apple TV+ documentary, “My Mind and Me.”
The trailer, released Monday and embedded above, begins with a monologue. Gomez is talking to herself, saying: “Just who you are, Selena. Nobody cares what you’re doing. It’s about who I am. I’m right where I am.” I am grateful to be alive.”
After her public diagnosis of lupus, depression and anxiety, she wonders: “How do I learn to breathe again?”
Set to the track of an emotional, unreleased song, the rest of the trailer shows Gomez embarking on a journey of self-discovery as she learns to love herself through her struggles and realizes that she is “still like someone else.” I have to use whatever I have to help.
The unreleased song appears to coincide with the documentary, as the lyrics include: “My brain and I / We sometimes don’t get along / It’s hard to breathe / But I won’t change my life / If Someone looks at me like this / Then they won’t feel lonely anymore / My mind and I.”
“Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me” is directed by Alec Keshishian, who made his directorial debut with “Madonna: Truth or Dare.”
