Sean Bean’s 8 Best Character Deaths, Ranked

When you think of actors who have made careers of their characters dying on screen, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Sean bean‘s name pops up. According to an article by CBR, Bean’s characters have died 25 times as of 2020. That’s 25 different roles where we’ve seen a new character die. Whether it’s beheading, gunshots, or even arrows, Bean has proven to be an expert at faking death!

Of his 25 dead, a handful stood out from the rest. His character Ned in Game of Thrones’ House Stark may have been short-lived, but it’s a role Bean will remember for a long time to come. His character was in the first season of the series, but is still being raised due to the horrific nature of his death, the knock-on effect it caused throughout Westeros, and the revenge his family consequently sought. Likewise, Bean Boromir who died during the skirmish at Amon Hen played one of the best battles in the Lord of the Rings movies. Both character deaths brought tears to his fans.

While Bean has died a heroic death, his characters are sometimes villains like in the James Bond movie, golden eye, where he played one of the franchise’s better villains, Alec Trevelyan. In the remake of the 2007 classic film, the hitcher, Bean again plays the villain, tormenting Sophia Bush’s character to the very end. Be it a hero or a villain, let’s take a look at Bean’s 8 Best Character Deaths.

7/8 Golden Eye

In Pierce Brosnan’s first film as the iconic James Bond, Golden Eye, we see Bean as the villain, Alec Trevelyan, a 006 agent who was dead but is now a renegade MI6 agent who plans to use Goldeneye to wipe out London. Goldeneye is a secret space weapons program that Bond must retrieve after it is stolen by a Russian crime syndicate. To make matters worse, Bond discovers the truth about Alec, his friend at the station. During the realization scene, only one of the two can stay alive. Bean eventually falls from an antenna/satellite to his death.

6/8 The Hitcher (2007)

the hitcher is another movie where Bean’s death is justified because he is the main antagonist. In the 2007 remake of the 1986 cult classic, the hitcherBean plays the titular character whose name is actually John Ryder. John is picked up by Jim (Zachary Knighton) and Grace (Sophia Bush) as they drive through the New Mexico desert. John threatens them with a knife before being thrown from the car. The next day, Jim and Grace see John in another family’s car. They try to warn them, but discover that the family has already been murdered. Jim comes into contact with the police, but it doesn’t end well. Instead, the classic cat-and-mouse game follows, resulting in a few deaths, including the shooting of Bean’s character.

5/8 Patriot games

Patriot games plays a young Bean alongside Harrison Ford. Ford plays former CIA analyst Jack Ryan, who witnesses an explosion outside Buckingham Palace while on vacation in England. Finally, he is able to stop the kidnapping attempt, which kills one of the Irish revolutionaries. Surviving brother, Sean Miller (Bean), vows to avenge his brother’s death. He targets Jack’s pregnant wife and daughter and forces Jack to return to the CIA to try and capture Sean before his family is injured. As is the case when you are the antagonist, Bean’s death is near. What works well in this movie is how his character is killed: instead of being shot, which is an easy way to go, he is actually impaled with an anchor.

4/8 don’t say a word

In the 2001 thriller don’t say a wordBean plays Patrick, the leader of a group of thieves. During one of their heists, he is tricked by his men and loses the gem he tried to steal. Ten years later, he kidnaps a psychiatrist’s daughter to force him to help discover the gem’s whereabouts by treating a new patient just admitted to his hospital. Michael Douglas stars as Nathan, the psychiatrist, with Brittany Murphy as Elisabeth, the troubled patient. Towards the end of the film, Patrick has karma that works against him when he is buried alive. While his death isn’t technically on screen, you can admit that burial alive isn’t a good way to go.

Boromir realizes his mistake and fights to save the hobbits from a group of orcs who have found the group. Despite being hit by multiple arrows, he continues to fight until the last shot. It is perhaps this character death that marks one of Bean’s most heroic.

1/8 Game of Thrones

In arguably one of the more gruesome death scenes Bean has encountered, he is beheaded in front of a group of people, including his two young daughters. In the first season of Game of ThronesBean plays Ned from House Stark, who is asked to join his friend, the King, and become his second-in-command, The Hand of the King. When Hand begins to uncover some truths about the king’s wife, and when the king is killed in an “accident” while hunting boars, Ned is put on trial for claiming that the king’s heir is not in fact his son. is. His death sparks a desire for revenge in the rest of his family and starts a series of horrific deaths among many of the dead GOT form.
