Laurie seems to have adjusted some semblance of normalcy to her life, until tragedy strikes Haddonfield.
When Allyson’s new boyfriend, Corey Cunningham, is accused of murdering the boy he’s babysitting, another killing spree unfolds in the small town and Laurie becomes another target. After four years of peace, Laurie Strode is as vulnerable as anyone else Michael Myers targets. More is at stake than ever as Laurie not only faces Michael Myers, but also a copycat killer who sets in motion the carnage that leads to Michael’s reappearance.

As mentioned, the trailers reveal a lot of details about Laurie and Michael’s confrontation. From Laurie opening her front door to let Michael in, to her jumping out of a kitchen cupboard to attack Michael by surprise, to photos of their published kitchen fight, Michael will somehow get his hands on Laurie. Despite her years of rest, it seems that Laurie still maintains her training skills as at one point during the fight she has seen Michael gain the upper hand, pin Michael to a counter and expose him, but then there is every other shot from Michael who flips Laurie over the same kitchen sink and nearly destroys her hand with a garbage disposal. With film editing, viewers never know the exact continuity of the footage used in trailers, what comes first in the film and what comes last. What can be speculated is that this fight is the first of two confrontations, as promotional clips show a connected Laurie being approached by Allyson the day after her confrontation with Michael Myers. There are also recent behind-the-scenes clips showing Laurie and Allyson in the apparent aftermath of their fight with Michael, bloodied but alive.
Jamie Lee Curtis has confirmed this is her last Halloween movie
This isn’t the first time Jamie Lee Curtis has Halloween franchisee. Between the events of Halloween 2 and Halloween 4, the storyline established that Laurie Strode’s character died in a car accident. When the franchise rebooted in 1998 with the release of Halloween H20Jamie Lee Curtis returned as Laurie Strode in a traumatized version very similar to the Halloween 2018 incarnation of the character. In Halloween Resurrection, Laurie once again meets her demise during a sanatorium rooftop fight against Michael, only to come back to life when the franchise was (re)booted by director David Gordon Green. Nevertheless, all of these departures have been somewhat unofficial as Jamie Lee Curtis has never publicly commented on her departure during promotional interviews.
As a release date for Halloween ends approaching, Jamie Lee Curtis has done several interviews confirming that this will be her last Halloween movie. Through several tearful comments, she elaborates further that there will be a fight between her and Michael Myers, a “final reckoning.” Whether that means Laurie will perish or remain in the film’s finale remains uncertain, but this is sure to be a bittersweet episode for fans of Jamie Lee Curtis while calming down her most memorable character.
