Sajid Khan, who was accused by actresses and starlets during the MeToo movement, has faced a ban from the entertainment industry over the allegations of sexual harassment. Now, the filmmaker has returned to the small screen as a participant in the ongoing controversial reality show Bigg Boss 16. However, after his return, many of the female performers who had accused him of wrongdoing expressed their dismay at his comeback, prompting Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) also sent a statement demanding that he be removed from the show. Now, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a response in response, and the statement says the ban on him was lifted in 2019.

FWICE has issued an official statement on its social media handle, addressed to Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, stating that Sajid Khan has served his sentence and is allowed to work. In the letter, they said, “After carefully reviewing the entire proceeding of IFTDA’s POSH committee and considering the views of the FWICE legal team, the FWICE also approved the action against Director Sajid Khan and endorsed the decision of the FWICE. IFTDA from BAN on Shri Sajid Khan for a year.”

The statement continued: “Shri Sajid Khan had cooperated with the IFTDA and FWICE and obeyed the decision of the POSH committee. FWICE was satisfied with his behavior during the period of his Ban and upon completion of the year of this punishment, the BAN on Shri Sajid Khan was lifted by the FWICE on 14.03.2019. Shri Sajid Khan has now joined the BIGG BOSS to earn his living. Copies of all such correspondences are hereby attached for reference.”

Speaking about his right to return to work, the letter elaborated on the letter, adding: “He also endured the severe ordeal of the POSH committee and a lot of humiliation during those difficult days on social media and other public platforms. A person who has already served his sentence and obeyed the decision of the IFTDA and the FWICE cannot be tried and punished again for the same crime. He has every right to survive and earn a living and that’s why he’s in the BIGG BOSS show. Therefore, you are requested to kindly allow Shri Sajid Khan to work for the show BIGG BOSS and not take any action against him as per the appeal filed by the Delhi Commission of Women.

Bigg Boss 16 is currently airing on Colors and includes various actors from the television industry such as Shalin Bhanot, Gautam Vig, Tina Dutta, Sreejita De, Ankit Gupta, Priyanka Choudhary, as well as participants from other walks of life.
