Scout Taylor-Compton Says It Was ‘Emotional’ To Watch Jamie Lee Curtis End Halloween Run

From one Laurie Strode to another, there’s a shared bond in parting with the fans’ favorite last girl. in 1978, Jamie Lee Curtis debuted as the original Laurie before appearing in several films in the franchise. Her run ends with the new movie, Halloween ends, which is coming to theaters and Peacock on Friday. In the horror genre, you never really know if a character is really dead, but this new movie was developed as the final chapter of Laurie Strode’s story.

Between a few runs of JLC, the role of Laurie Strode was played by Scout Taylor Compton in a few Halloween movies from director Rob Zombie. The story of that timeline finally ended with Halloween II, when Taylor-Compton said goodbye to her version of the character. While attending the Halloween ends premiere with fellow franchise star Danielle Harris, who Taylor-Compton spoke with Variety about how “emotional” it was to watch Curtis say goodbye to Laurie as well, because this is something Taylor-Compton can understand on a personal level.

“I don’t know why I get emotional. It’s emotional. I mean, it really is. For me, I had to play her in the remakes, and now that she came back and made this amazing comeback, she says goodbye… me mean i said goodbye to Laurie, and now she is. It’s just, it’s emotional. She did such a great job and I envy her as a person, and as Laurie. It’s like Jamie and Laurie are one person . , so saying goodbye is quite intense.”

An epic horror gathering took place during the premiere

Harris also told Variety that she still hadn’t met Jamie Lee Curtis, even though they were both such a big part of the Halloween franchisee. They finally met that night, when a photo of Harris and Scout-Taylor Compton meeting JLC was posted online. A nightmare on Elm Street stars Heather Langenkamp and Amanda Wyss were also present and appearing in the picture, and it was a beautiful moment to watch for big fans of horror.

Of course, there will be some horror fans wondering if this is really the end of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. While Curtis even put it in writing during a segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Since she’s done with the role, she also maintains a bit of a “never say never” attitude about ever coming back, as she never thought she’d even return for this new trio of films at Blumhouse.

In any case, it’s coming to an end this week… for now. Halloween ends will premiere in theaters and on Peacock on October 14, 2022.
