Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is currently making headlines for her performance in The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle’s podcast. The Bollywood diva talked about a lot of things, including mental health. While interacting with Meghan, Deepika revealed that many people believed she was sharing her story about her struggle with mental illness to promote a movie.
Deepika Padukone Reveals People Thought She Was Paid To Talk About Mental Illness
DP said: “For most of India it felt like this huge burden was lifted off their shoulders. That finally someone acknowledged that okay, there is such a thing as mental illness, but with all the good you do, they will always be such a skeptic.”
Building on the same, the Chennai Express actress continued: “So there were some people who felt like I was doing this to promote a movie or that they thought I was being paid by a pharmaceutical company. And there were articles where they thought I was being paid by a pharmaceutical company and you know that now I’m going to advertise some kind of drug.”
Moving on, the Om Shanti Om actress added: “As difficult as coping with mental illness was, I am also grateful that I went through that experience because it changed my life forever. My life then was about a purpose and what is my purpose? had these kind of life and death experiences.”
Apart from this, Padukone also talked about her actor husband Ranveer Singh. She claimed: “My husband was at a music festival for a week and he just came home. So he will be happy to see my face.”
