Academy Launches Oscars Content Partnership With Letterboxd

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has launched a partnership with Letterboxd, the growing social network for global movie discussion and discovery, to collaborate on the 95th Academy Awards.

Kicking off with the Nominees Luncheon, the film media site will join the run-up to March 12 with nominees reading the best reviews of their movies on Letterboxd. Letterboxd will also present its podcast “The Letterboxd Show” to nominees during awards season.

“The Academy is delighted to partner with Letterboxd, which is home to millions of passionate and engaged moviegoers around the world. As the Academy seeks to reach a more global and diverse audience of movie lovers, Letterboxd is a perfect partner. We look forward to being a part of this dynamic community,” said Academy Senior Director of Digital Marketing Courtney Rodriguez.

The association also announces the creation of the Academy’s headquarters web account, which features complete and upcoming lists of nominees for all 95 Oscars in all categories. Editorial content will take viewers through the history of the Oscars and Oscar-winning filmmakers, as well as curated content from the Academy Film Archive and the vast collections of the Margaret Herrick Library.

“It is incredibly heartwarming to be able to work with the most iconic organization in the film industry, a team that sees value in the community of movie lovers we have brought together and nurtured over the past decade,” said Letterboxd co-founder Matthew Buchanan. “Oscar nominated films form the backbone of so many Letterboxd lists, and the annual ceremony is so often the jumping-off point for many moviegoers’ journey, that it feels completely natural to welcome the Academy into the fold. An exciting time for the entire Letterboxd HQ team.”
