The past few seasons of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” it certainly seemed as though Alex Borstein’s character Susie Myerson was not only being put front and center, but also given a career and life outside of Midge Maisel. Was. The big question is: why? Could The Miz’s tough-as-nails manager get a spin-off?
“whatever [‘Mrs. Maisel’ creator] Amy wants to do Sherman-Palladino – and if I’m invited to the party – I’m there. I’m there early, and I’ll be the last guest to leave,” Borstein excitedly tells TheWrap.
“I really, I feel very safe and I really trust him,” the three-time Emmy winner continued. “She creates these universes that are constantly expanding, and I don’t know how she does it. You can’t get bored because it’s constantly expanding and changing and just like the universe, it’s going to surprise and surprise you.” There’s enough dark matter to do and explore. If Amy Sherman-Palladino were to say, ‘Let’s explore more Susie,’ I’d trust her to have something worth telling.
And judging by the recent episode in which Susie posed alongside other customers – and the crowd – as a ne’er-do-well sister and hinting at her sexuality, it seems there’s a lot more “worth saying” about Susie. .
“Maybe,” Borstein said. “I always thought it would be fun to have a little animated version of Susie. I thought it would be hilarious. Kind of miniature. Even if they were, like, little pieces of Susie giving someone, just Kind of rant of the week. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
And Susie Timardar is not only nothing new to Borstein, she said that when performing in person, a Susie rant is a frequent request.
“I do cameos for charity, and I donate it all to a charity I call Mission Ukrainian Moms,” she said. “But nine times out of 10, when people request cameos, that’s what people want — they want Susie to roast somebody or scold somebody. And so it’s so funny, people really like being abused by Susie.” It is a small niche that I have been able to fill.
