Assam girl Celesti Bairagey makes her debut on Indian TV as Rajjo. This is her first performance. The young lady had gone viral a few days ago when she dressed up as Alia Bhatt from Gangubai Kathiawadi’s promotions. Social media was amazed at how similar she looked to the Highway actress. Well, the Alia Bhatt-inspired video did wonders for Celesti Bairagey. In an EXCLUSIVE interview, she tells us: “You can say that the video worked for me. The producer of the show Mukta Ma’am (Mukta Dhond) decided to audition for me after seeing that video. So Alia Bhatt is lucky for me .”
The Rajjo show is the Hindi remake of Alta Phoring, a hit show on Star Jalsa, the Bengali show. It was previously titled Udti Ka Naam Rajjo. Celesti Bairagey says: “The casting director contacted me via Instagram. I wasn’t sure as I had no intention of working on a daily soap opera. I recorded my first audition with my phone’s movie camera. I didn’t tell my parents because I wasn’t expecting to be selected it was a surprise when I was told to come to Mumbai for second level auditions I was hesitant to tell my parents because traveling from Assam to Mumbai is quite a bit My father was like now let’s go and see what happens. I gained confidence after his encouragement.”
Celesti Bairagey says she got her confirmation while she was at Juhu Beach. “My father and I went to the beach. We had vada pav. I got the call that I was selected and I had to report on the sets. I was so happy. Funnily enough, my father was a bit ahead. The first person who got this good news was the vada pav wala, because i couldn’t control myself.” The show also stars Rajveer Singh, Gungun Uprari and others.
