Ryan Murphy’s “Dahmer” Netflix series just launched to some impressive premiere numbers, and considering how many people checked out the true crime limited series in its first week, its ’80s and ’90s soundtracks no doubt Not there.
Jeffrey Demar was one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. In the 1980s and early 1990s, he committed several brutal murders, often stripping his victims and keeping body parts as souvenirs. His crimes horrified the country and captivated the media.
The Netflix limited series “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” chronicles Dahmer’s childhood and early adulthood, leading up to his first murder in 1978. It explores the events that shaped him as a serial killer, and the police investigation that eventually took over. Given the lack of complexity in planning and executing his crimes, it is hard to believe that he escaped for so long.
Evan Peters has received praise from both critics and fans for his portrayal of a serial killer. Netflix has done a great job at weaving a complex story that spans multiple periods, and aims to focus more on the long list of victims.
The True Story drama series spans over 10 episodes and features a scintillating soundtrack with several great throwbacks to the 80s and 90s to take the audience back to this eclectic era. Some of the artists and bands featured in the series include Donovan, Casey and the Sunshine Band, Nick Cave, Pretty Poison, Barry Manilow, London Beat and the Jesus & Mary Chain.
The series also features an incredibly original score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, whose previous scoring work includes “Wind River” (2017), “Hell or High Water” (2016), “The Road” (2009) and “The Proposal”. Are included. (2005) and who also produced the 2022 Netflix film “Blonde”. This Australian duo is known for their creative, deep and imaginative music and they do a perfect job of scoring such a terrifying and sad subject. The album was released on September 21, 2022 on Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming platforms. The iconic duo has also been responsible for other crime thrillers such as Wind River (2017), Hell or High Water (2016), The Road. 2009) and Proposal (2005).
