Amazon Renews Josh Brolin Western Outer Range for Season 2

Wow, To be honest, we were getting upset for a minute. But Amazon Studios has announced a second season for “Outer Range,” a sci-fi western starring Josh Brolin, Lily Taylor, and Imogen Poots.

The first season debuted earlier this year on Prime Video. Charles Murray, whose credits include “Sons of Anarchy” and Marvel’s “Luke Cage” (he has an overall deal with Amazon Studios), will come on as showrunner and executive producer for Season 2. The show was created and largely written by Brian Watkins. ,

Royal Abbot (Brolin) is a farmer in rural Wyoming who, one day, notices a huge mysterious sinkhole on his property. The hole appears to have no bottom, and displays other strange properties, enough to pique the interest of Abbott’s overzealous neighbor Wayne Tillerson (Will Patton). While Abbott tries to keep the hole a secret, the arrival of a young hippie woman on her land (Poots) further complicates matters. The less you know about the series, the better; Just throw it on and be covered. “Outer Range” is easily one of the standouts of the year and there are still plenty of questions left to explore in its unique, twisted world.

The first season of the show ended in early May and we haven’t heard anything about it. Meanwhile costar Lewis Pullman (who plays one of Royal’s sons, a loveseat rodeo rider) starred in not only the biggest movie of the summer, but one of the biggest movies of all time — “Top Gun: Maverick” (that’s Bob, just Bob).

“Outer Range” is executive produced for Amazon Studios by Murray, Heather Rae, Brolin, Zev Borough, Watkins, Tony Krantz and Plan B Entertainment. Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Ernest McNally executive produce on behalf of Plan B.

A timetable for the return of the “Outer Range” is not yet detailed.
