What is it about

After growing up, children live their own lives away from their parents. One day Gayatri dies and this whole family comes together for her funeral. what’s hot

Vikas Bahl is known for directing movies like Queen, Shaandaar and Super 30. While Queen and Super 30 were great movies, Shaandaar failed to impress the audience. With Goodbye, Vikas takes us on an emotional ride. In the first 20-25 minutes itself, the tears will roll down your eyes. There are some lighthearted moments in the film, but those can put a smile on your face for a few seconds before going back into the emotional zone.

Amitabh Bachchan is a legend and he proves once again that he can carry a movie on his shoulder even at the age of 79. The performance of the megastar is simply stunning. A little spoiler here; in the second half there is a scene, which has only Big B on screen for about 10 minutes, but his performance is so good that you won’t be bored for a second. Exceptional!

Neena Gupta as Gayatri looks as fresh as a daisy in the movie, and she will bring a smile to your face when she appears on the big screen. Rashmika Mandanna makes her Bollywood debut with Goodbye and she put in a confident performance. Hindi cinemagoers, who saw her in Pushpa, get to see a completely different Rashmika in Goodbye.

Pavail Gulati, Abhisech Khan and Sahil Mehta; all these actors have delivered very impressive performances. Elli AvrRam also leaves a mark and has scenes where she stands out. A special mention to Sunil Grover; he is amazing in his extended cameo. After a very long time, a movie has come in which all the actors have been given a very good space to perform and all of them are shining.

Apart from the performances; another thing that impresses us a lot is the music of Amit Trivedi. The soulful songs are sure to hit the right strings of your heart.

What not

When we talk about the negative aspects of Goodbye, the pace is something that comes to mind first. The movie tempo is very slow and sometimes you lose interest in a few scenes. Also, some of the jokes in the first half just break the emotional connection, which is a bit disappointing.

While Rashmika did a good job, her South Indian accent doesn’t suit the character. She plays the role of a girl who was born and raised in Chandigarh and works in Mumbai. But she speaks Hindi with a South Indian accent, which is one of the film’s downsides.

BL verdict: Goodbye isn’t a Queen or a Super 30, but it isn’t even a Shaandaar. Vikas Bahl takes us on an emotional rollercoaster with Amitabh Bacchan leading the way with his fantastic performance. You can definitely watch Goodbye once with your family and don’t forget to bring some tissue boxes.
