The actor cheered for having the tricolor in every home, also shared photos with the flag and wrote on his blog why he started hoisting the Indian flag at his home. Speaking of the times when citizens were not allowed to raise the Indian national flag except on certain days, until MP Naveen Jindal went to court and was given the right to raise the flag, Bachchan wrote: “He won the decision in his favor and immediately I began to hang our national flags on our homes, as many who came to the gates on Sunday for the meetings at Jalsa would have noted.

“Obviously there were several restrictions – when to raise it, when to lower it, size, material and it was to be made from ‘khadi’ and bought from a particular shop in Bangalore until 2014 – now renamed Bengaluru. Now there is a campaign to make it fly out of every home with pride,” the actor wrote on his blog. “Those memories softly in the spirit of independence on August 15, 1947 and a five-year-old me holding the flag in our humble home in Allahabad, on the porch, full of pride of patriotism, identity, of being mine and ours, of belonging.”

He added: “And every occasion since then, the emotion that comes with it every time it’s played … one of the most, which is the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata and the Indo-Pak cricket match, is asked to watch it live to sing before the start of the game..and 100,000 thousand who filled the arena, sing along with me..my pride to be an Indian!!Jai Hind!!and that ecstatic night when India won the World Cup Cricket.. Abhishek and I atop our car waving the Tricolor screaming through the streets along with the hundreds crowding the roads.”

Returning to the present, Amitabh wrote that he sang a few lines for a recording: “They asked me this afternoon to sing a few lines of the song currently being pictured .. I have .. some association with National fervor a pride.!!”

He shared a photo with the Tricolor on Twitter, writing: “Har ghar tiranga, ghar ghar tiranga (the national flag in every home).” Har Ghar Tiranga is a Ministry of Culture program to mark the 75th anniversary of Indian independence.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan will be the next star in Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film also features Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy. It is supported by Ayan Mukerji and will be released on September 9, 2022.
