Ana Navarro closes comparison to Iran’s opposition to US abortion laws

“The View” co-host Ana Navarro did not compare co-host Joy Behar on Friday to women protesting Iran for the current state of abortion rights in the United States.

The panel was discussing CNN correspondent Christian Amanpour’s refusal to wear a headscarf to interview Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, which brought him into the protests following Mahsa Amini’s death at the hands of Iranian police.

Navarro called Amanpour a “scoundrel” and recalled a time when women were rarely seen covering world events. Navarro also called Amanpour’s refusal to wear the hijab an “act of solidarity” with the protests in Iran.

“We should all be united with what is happening in Iran,” Navarro said.

That’s where Behr broke out, comparing videos of women burning their hijabs in Iran to reversing Roe versus Wade in the United States.

“But we must stand in solidarity with the men in this country who are trying to control us with their abortion laws,” Behr said.

“Let’s not make that comparison,” Navarro said.

“Why not?” Bihar asked.

“Because the women there are being killed,” Navarro said.

Behr replied to clarify his point.

“I’m not saying they are equivalent,” Behar said. “All I’m saying is that we need to look at what’s happening in our own country as well.”

“To me, they are having very different conversations,” Navarro said.
