Just before the release of the new movie the performer, we have an exclusive clip to premiere. The movie starring Antonio Banderas as a hit man who decides to become a hero when his conscience gets involved, will be released September 23 by Screen Media Films. You can get a taste of it by watching our clip below where Banderas visits a trap house for a meeting with a dark character (2 Chainz) when things get tense.
Of course Banderas is very well known to moviegoers after spending decades in movies, from Desperado and The mask of Zorro to the Spying on children movies and cat in boots. But this clip also gives a glimpse into the film acting debut of 2 Chainz, who is best known for his achievements as a rapper. 2 Chainz was previously seen in the TV shows Two broke girls and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Along with Banderas and 2 Chainz, the performer with Kate Bosworth, Mojean Aria, Zolee Griggs and Alexis Ren. The film is directed by Richard Hughes and makes his directorial debut for a feature film with a screenplay by W. Peter Iliff. The official summary is as follows:
Miami’s top mob enforcer Cuda (Antonio Banderas) sacrifices everything to take down the criminal organization he’s built all his life when he discovers his boss Estelle (Kate Bosworth) is putting the life of a young runaway in grave danger. Now he has one last chance to make amends for his past and find redemption—both for himself and his family—before the mob hunts him down for his betrayal.
The Enforcer has a lot of heart
While Antonio Banderas gets his hands dirty in the performer, the movie is not your typical action movie. In his review of the film, our very own Julian Roman the performer because he let Banderas discover more of his dramatic side instead of keeping the guns blazing from start to finish. The result is a film that will surprise some viewers with the amount of heart they will find in the story.
“the performer is not a wall-to-wall action movie,” explains Roman. “Richard Hughes, a famous commercial director, makes the right narrative decision with his feature debut. He gives Banderas time to establish Cuda’s character and change of heart. This is a critical choice in a solid ninety minutes. Hughes has some mind-boggling edits on the second act. I think he decided to reduce the action here and let Banderas carry the emotional weight.”
He added, “the performer surpasses typical genre films with some depth. The audience gets a filled quota for violence, but also cares about the characters. A surprisingly poetic ending further sets itself apart from the usual B-movie shit.”
