The Mask of Zorro star has named Tom Holland as someone he’d like to see reprise the role in a reboot.
It’s probably only a matter of time before the masked swordsman known as Zorro gets his next reboot, and a previous actor known for playing the role is backing Tom Holland. In 1998, Antonio Banderas famously played the role in the hit movie Zorro’s maskwho later returned to reprise the role in 2006 The Legend of Zorro. Banderas spoke to Quentin Tarantino about a possible return as Zorro one last time in one Django unleashed crossover, though the project failed before that could happen.
In a new interview with ComicBook. comBanderas spoke about the condition of the Zorro franchise. He confirmed that he would love to reprise his role as Zorro, but in a way that sees him passing the torch to a new actor, as Anthony Hopkins had done for him in Zorro’s mask. But who would Banderas like to see as his successor in the role of Zorro? He should say Tom Holland after what he saw of the actor during their collaboration on Not charted. From the interview:
“Tom Holland. I did Not charted with him and he is so energetic and fun and he has a spark too. Why not?”
Whether the Netherlands will receive that call remains to be seen. There have been several reports of it in recent years Zorro is being rebooted, and such a project is reportedly taking place at Disney+ That 1970s show star Wilmer Valderrama. on The Drew Barrymore Show in May, Valderrama teased that the reboot would be a “Zorro for this generation”. Maybe it’s not too late for Banderas to get a cameo, even if his favorite actor of the Netherlands isn’t the one who plays the new Zorro.
Tom Holland will also keep busy without Zorro
No official sequel has been announced yet Not charted, but there have been reports of tentative plans for sequels to be developed. It may not be Zorro, but Not charted in which Holland takes on the role of Nathan Drake, the adventurer featured as the playable character of the Not charted video games. Banderas played the villain in the film.
As for where Holland will end up next, there are also reports that he’ll be back as Peter Parker in another Spider-Man film, hardly a surprise given the immense success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. He also plays Fred Astaire in an upcoming biopic and is starring in an upcoming Apple TV+ series called The crowded roomwhich is based on the true stories of people dealing with mental illness.
