Who isn’t excited about it Ash 2? The web series has thoroughly intrigued everyone thanks to its chilling trailer. Part one of the series received a phenomenal response and now the creators are back to entertain fans by wandering the dark world and fusing mythology and science. Arshad Warsi, Anupriya Goenka, Amey Wagh, Barun Sobti, Ridhi Dogra and many more are part of Asur 2. Fans would know that it took the creators almost three years to come up with Asur 2. Why that way? In a recent chat with us, Anupriya Goenka who plays the role of Naina Nair shared the reason. Excerpts from the interview:
Why did Asur 2 take 3 years?
COVID happened, as I said. And then, you know, the writing took time. What I also really like about our team is that they work very hard. And therefore the quality. They don’t cut corners. And Oni Sen (director) likes to be very thorough with the screenplay. Gaurav, Bhvesh and they all believe in that. And what’s more, while we were also shooting, it took us almost a year and a half. Because there was so much to do. And plus, VFX, you know, the post-production, they take a lot of time. Our dubbing only lasted a month, I think. They were adding things. They were changing the edits to make it even better and sharper. Because it’s a tough one, you know, the content. And after writing, if you edit it, then you understand. I think that happened. Because there are so many songs, whether the audience understands and whether what you have written is actually communicated. So many things kept happening. The good thing is that I trust the creators here and their sensibilities so much that I always knew that if it takes time it will only get better. They will never let it get out of their hands. And now it luckily comes to Jio. So it has an even better release. And I think they wanted to plan it with the rest of the content.
What can fans expect from Asur 2?
As they say, entertainment, entertainment and entertainment. I think more than anything, I’m very proud to watch it. Instead of being entertained, it’s also the fact that when you see international shows and you see that we should have content like that, which is being created right now. I feel it is one of those. It’s very waterproof. It is beautifully written and performed. And the performances of the actors are brilliant. So I think they will be proud of it. And that’s what I really hope. For example, the first season had many mythological aspects. Someone who likes that learns that. Learn certain aspects of it. And Asur is a place where all the characters have a very different core. You know? All the characters have a very different way of thinking. So you see a mirage of the human world.
He’s just like that on set. He’s always nice. He is always laughing, makes situations light-hearted. Nice person to talk to and work with. Very, very supportive. He has such a gift. One moment he can laugh. Like literally one second and the next second he will be in tears. I had to distance myself from him. I always stood away from the target when the scene was cut and when the second shot would be taken. Because before that he was joking and I need time to get in the mood. I can’t get into the scene that fast. I used to be scared. Sometimes, just looking at him, I smiled sometimes. It would be so hard to do serious scenes with him. So I would constantly say don’t joke, don’t joke, don’t look at me. I keep looking here and there.
