Anushka Sen, who has been part of shows like Jhansi Ki Rani, Balveer and more, is embarking on a new journey. She becomes the host of Zee Cafe’s show called Not Just A Chat Show. It will premiere on July 24 and judging by the teaser, it can be said that the show has a lot to offer its audience. Ahead of the big day, BollywoodLife struck up a conversation with Anushka Sen to learn more about her experience hosting for the first time. Scroll on for excerpts from the interview:
Why is it ‘Not just any chat show’?
Anushka Sen was asked to explain the thinking behind the show’s title. To this she said: “So it’s a chat show, but it’s different from other shows. I’m the host and I’m really excited about it because it’s my very first chat show. It’s different from other shows as it’s very spontaneous and organically with people having real heart-to-heart conversations, which is slightly different from other chat programs.”

Anushka Sen shared the guest list of Not Just A Chat Show. She said: “So we wanted every episode to be different. We have a very interesting lineup. We have two actresses. One is Krystle Dsouza and the other is Riddhima Pandit. Then we have the aesthetic doctor Dr. Monica Jacob Then we have Shipra Khanna who is the winner of Master Chef. So the conversations are very different and it’s very interesting to know about their struggles, life stories and journeys.”

Anushka Sen’s first guest on Not Just A Chat Show is actress Krystle Dsouza. Talking about the experience she had with Belan Wali Bahu actress, Anushka Sen said they were able to connect as they both had worked in the industry for 12 years. She said: “I met Krystle for the very first time on the show. Of course I knew about her, had seen her perform. But she’s a very cool, nice person and she has a really nice vibe to her. She was very open and sincere. The way she was there on the sets, her personality was really amazing. We actually celebrated 12 years in the industry together. I started when I was 8 and I will be 20 soon and she started 12 years ago. It was very funny and it was also a lot of fun because we shared each other’s travels.’
Who is Anushka Sen’s favorite host – Salman Khan, Rohit Shetty or Karan Johar?
The young actress was asked to name a presenter she admires most. Without much thought, she picked Rohit Shetty. She said: “I have to say I’m a bit biased, I have to say Rohit Sir. I’ve been on Khatron Ke Khiladi and his show is different from the others. Karan Johar’s show is different because it’s all about conversations and rapid fires, Salman Khan’s show is another reality show because people are stuck in one room but when it comes to Rohit Sir his show is about stunts and people who have never done anything like this and I know how it feels Sir’s constant motivation makes sure that you do something you never expected you would do. He is the best host I’ve met in my life.”
