Are Beverly & Jean-Luc Together After ‘Star Trek: Picard’? The stars say…

Thursday wrapped up “Star Trek: Picard” with a touching scene between Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and their son Jack (Ed Spielers).

A year after saving the Federation from the Borg (again), Beverly and Jean-Luc are in the shuttle with Jack on his first Starfleet field posting (think of it as two proud parents dropping off their son at college).

It’s a heartwarming family moment that’s heightened when Picard learns that Jack has been posted to the newly renamed USS Enterprise-G.

To describe Beverly and Jean-Luc’s relationship as complicated is an understatement. Beverly’s first husband, named Jack after her, was Jean-Luc’s best friend. Jack was killed on a mission under the orders of Jean-Luc. Years later, Beverly would join the Enterprise as Chief Medical Officer, reporting to Picard. And despite their mutual feelings for each other, he never acted on them.

Until nearly 20 years ago, when Beverly became pregnant after a one-night stand with Jean-Luc, she gave birth to a boy, Jack, and did not tell his father for fear that his enemies would follow them. It wasn’t until she was mortally wounded that she reached out to her ex-boyfriend.

So what’s in store for “Star Trek’s” longest running couple? do they end up together?

“I really don’t know,” McFadden told TheWrap at the finale screening of “Picard” on Wednesday. “It could be so many different possibilities. I mean, Beverly could meet some young man! I don’t know what’s going to happen. There’s obviously a lot of love between the two. And I think it’s time for me.” A beautiful ending. Family is what is most important.

Showrunner Terry Matellas, whose writing convinced McFadden to return to the role, holds a similar belief.

“Look, I guess they’re family anyhow now,” Matlas said. “Right? So it’s up to the audience’s interpretation, I guess. In my heart, I’d like to think that there’s a little more [between them],

“Laris [Picard’s Romulan housekeeper and confidant] Maybe there still is. I think there are some people who would like to think that maybe this is a thing,” Mattels continued. “So it’s up to the audience to decide for now. But then again, who knows if we do more? And maybe we can, is this something we can explore?”

“Where can I see they end up? Ah, he’ll be there to deliver the next series we’re going to make,” replied Stewart with a smile.

As for other fictional takes, we asked Matala if he ever considered making the Jack character female and exploring Picard’s father-daughter relationship.

“Not the case,” Matalas explained. “We felt like the daughter’s story was [covered] With Soji in Season One. and a father and son [relationship] We felt new So that was always the idea for this season.
