Kuttey is the first movie to hit theaters in 2023. It is an action thriller directed by Aasmaan Bhardwaj, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Tabu, Arjun Kapoor and Radhika Madan among others. If you’re a fan of the genre but confused about watching Kuttey in theaters over the weekend, here’s our review to help you make the right decision. What is it about?

Kuttey is based on corruption that is deeply rooted in the country. Arjun Kapoor plays Gopal Tiwari in the film. His assistant, Kumud Mishra, plays Paaji. The two are the central characters and in the end, other characters played by Tabu, Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Madan and others are connected and contribute to the story. Kuttey’s story begins with Gopal and Paaji getting a supari for a meeting with a politician’s rival. Things go haywire and then their plan to steal money begins, which again doesn’t end as planned. One task leads their lives to become entangled in scams and betrayals. What’s Hot?

While the plot falters, the acting talent served in the film manages to hold your attention. Kumud Mishra, Tabu’s character connects and draws you into the story. The music adds to the drama and scenes. In the second half of the movie, all the dots come together and the plot gets better. There are a handful of punches that will tear you apart in these bloody antics.

What not?

Kuttey’s pace is quite slow, especially in the first half. There are a few subplots that disappear before intermission. It feels like a drag fest In the first half and in some places in the second half. The plot does little to hold your attention. The screenplay and direction are good, but could have been better, especially in the first half. By the time the plot gets going, the end seems far away.

BL verdict:

While Kuttey seems to be a snooze fest in the first half, the second half is not completely disappointing. Watch it for great acting performances from some of the best actors. I’m going for 2.5 stars.
