BAFTA cancels TV Tea Party after Queen Elizabeth’s death

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, BAFTA announced that its annual TV Tea Party, scheduled for this Saturday, has been cancelled.

“In light of today’s very sad news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, BAFTA TV’s annual Tea Party will no longer take place this weekend,” read a statement from the awards group. British.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty The Queen, whose close association with BAFTA spanned 50 years. Our thoughts are with the President of BAFTA, His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge and the Royal Family, to whom we offer our deepest condolences,” the statement continued.

The event honoring the Emmy nominees was scheduled for Saturday, September 10, at The Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills.
