Big things are happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the news that the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again will Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio be recalled from the hit daredevil series originally streamed on Netflix. Of course, Cox and D’Onofrio have already appeared in the MCU since then, which helps build their returns in the Born again series. This also leaves the door open for other characters included in daredevil and its spin-offs will come to the MCU at some point in the future.
if you ask Ben Barneswho played the villain Jigsaw in the punisher, he would like to return. Since Cox has suggested that this new series will be a reinvention in some ways, that means they may be variants of the characters from the daredevil show. So even if Jigsaw met his end in the punisherBarnes still hopes the character gets his chance to return in the MCU too, perhaps as an even darker version of the Jigsaw we encountered in the previous series.
Recently, Barnes addressed the situation with: ComicBook.com. He suggested that maybe this time around, the show’s creators could make his Billy Russo even worse to make a “spicier” version of Jigsaw. Anyway, Barnes would love to get back in that role if given the chance, as he said he especially loved playing the villain. From the interview:
“I loved playing that character. I loved discovering over the course of the show that we did on Netflix, discovering this kind of abused child in this psychopathic, you know, unhinged, scarred marine body, and I loved how unpredictable he was .
He may have some hope, but that doesn’t mean Barnes is counting on a call from Kevin Feige. The actor acknowledges that his Jigsaw brought his character’s story to a satisfying end with the punisher and thinks the forces at Marvel might prefer to leave it as it is.
“I think we captured that story in a pretty satisfying way. So I don’t have much hope for that.”
Daredevil: Born Again Might Bring Back Other Fan Favorites
Right now, only Charlie Cox and Vincentt D’Onofrio are the only cast members of the original daredevil series confirmed for Daredevil: Born Again. That doesn’t mean we won’t see others show up, whether that’s Billy Russo or not. For his part, Cox is still not quite sure what will happen next, but he hopes that as many of his old friends as possible will come back.
“It was an absolute joy to work with everyone on all those shows on Netflix,” he told Variety. “They were the beating heart of all those shows. I would be honored and excited to be working with one of them again. I would hate to single anyone out and I wouldn’t speculate because I just don’t know what the plan is.” is moving forward.”
