Andrew Dominic’s blond starring Ana de Armas debuted to a huge 14-minute standing ovation during its world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.

According to Variety, the lead actress Armas, who plays Marilyn Monroe, was caught in tears during the screening as her face glowed as tears streamed down. Pitt made a surprise appearance in Venice for not attending the film’s press conference earlier in the day. Co-star Adrien Brody also sheds a few tears. Pitt was visibly pleased.
In a video posted to social media, Ana can be seen crying and thanking the audience as she blows kisses to those closest to her. The clip also shows Ana hugging her blond Brody, who will play the playwright Arthur Miller, Monroe’s third husband.
The biographical drama is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ novel of the same name. “It gives a new perspective on Monroe’s life, from her fleeting childhood as Norma Jeane to her rise to stardom.” The supporting cast includes Bobby Cannavale, Brody, Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.
blond is directed by Andrew Dominik, whose last feature film was Killing Them Softly in 2012, starring Brad Pitt – who produces Blonde – and Dede Gardner. Netflix opens blond worldwide on September 28.
