Bowen Yang’s Jorge Santos Hijacks ‘Fox NFL Sunday’ and Lies About Football Stardom (VIDEO)

“SNL” is off for a month, and that means the show’s writers missed a chance to parody the big news that breaks during the break. Luckily, Republican congressman/serial liar/grifter/con artist George Santos remains relevant, and so is the show’s first cold open of 2023 that took a crack at, you know, the whole thing.

You can watch some of them now below:

Alas, it was in service of a weird parody of “Fox NFL Sunday,” with in-jokes and references to, well, whatever. But Bowen Yang once again delivers what he has in making even bad sketches funny, by playing Jorge Santos as a surprising sports reporter who has lied and lied and lied, in this case About his non-existent football career.

Yang’s Santos was clearly inspired by the real Santos’ interview with Tulsi Gabbard last December, when Santos delivered a stream of BS about details of her life and career she lied about. In that interview, Santos, called out for lying about working in the financial industry, of course, spewed out a stream of hastily Googled words that he didn’t understand, and then he said that voters Were too stupid to understand what he was talking about.

Yang’s Santos didn’t go that far, but did boast about a football career riddled with inaccuracies, including listing baseball statistics among his accomplishments. Then came some more corny football jokes. Then for the end of the sketch, Yang’s Santos returned to hijack the broadcast again, this time as “Kitara Revache,” a drag persona. Santos used to haveAlthough of course he denies it.

The stand out moment at this point was Yang’s Santos breaking into a dance set to a house music remix of the NFL theme music. You can watch that special moment above. We will have the full video once they make it online.
