Overall it was a low day for Bollywood as overall it was just over Rs. $2 million came in. That’s not good at all, as the industry also needs a big Bollywood biggie to keep the exhibition and distribution industry going, and the wait turned out to be longer than expected, as the latest blockbuster was Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 that came two months ago.

Both HIT – The first case and Shabaash Mithuss its low opened, although the former is at least equal, because it has gathered what was expected of it. The numbers stood at Rs. 1.35 crores which is as expected. What is surprising is that the collections are even lower than Bath shark Do which had collected Rs. 1.65 crores on opening day, and that too when it was the first new theatrical release after the third wave was subsidized and theaters were only operating at 50% capacity and with no night shows!

On the other hand Shabaash Mithuss was very poor with only Rs. 0.50 crores* coming in. The collections can be compared to Saina, another film about the greatest Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal. That film had collected Rs. 0.15 crores on the first day and now the Taapsee Pannu is just slightly better. The film was expected to hit at least 1 crore as it is about Mithali Raj, the number 1 female cricketer from India, but people were just not aware of that at the time.

In the meantime, JugJugg Jeeyo does have a consciousness factor that works for it and because of that it was able to collect Rs. 0.40 crores on the fourth Friday. The collections are now down to low, but what’s coming in is an added bonus for the Raj Mehta-directed movie. It has collected Rs. 81.37 crores so far and should go past Rs. 85 crores mark in his lifetime.

* Estimates. Last numbers waited

Note: All collections according to production and distribution sources
