Brad Pitt and Brian Tyree Henry Discuss Their Bullet Train Battle Scenes

Brad Pitt starred in another blockbuster this summer with bullet train. The film follows five killers on a train who discover that their missions all have something in common. bullet train was a success with the public and financially, with an audience score of 76% on Rotten tomatoes and a hefty $235 million at the box office against a budget of $86 million.


The film is led by action enthusiasts David Leitch, responsible for projects such as: John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2and Fast & Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw. Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon and Sandra Bullock play alongside Pitt. After the successful run in the theater, bullet train prepares to release in 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 18. DiscussionMovie shared on behind the scenes video with Henry and Pitt as a promotion ahead of release, and the two stars discuss what it was like filming their fight scenes in bullet train.

“I was so happy to see this bit of humor incorporated into the fights,” Pitt says. “These guys already had it together, we just had to learn it.” Henry goes into detail and mentions their fight on the “silent car” in the film. “I don’t know if you’ve ever had to fight quietly with someone for your life. The choreography, it took me about two weeks to learn this fight.” Henry continues, “I’m just going to tell you, the most distracting part of the fight is Brad’s hair. Like he just has this golden wheat, wavy, beautiful Vidal Sassoon f*****g hair. I’ve never seen anything like it. “

Unlike many movies, the film avoids fast shots and camera shake, with wide angles and longer shots being used for the combat. Greg Reenter, Second Unit director and stunt coordinator behind the film, also shared his take on the silent car fight scene.

“There has to be acting in the action. Let’s talk about something like the Lemon vs. Ladybug fight. They sit at a table in a quiet car, which is gold,” he explains. “How do you fight while you’re quiet? So we thought, ‘Let’s put them in awkward positions so that if she catches them, they have to look like buddy-buddy, so instead of just punching punching punching for no reason, do we put them in rhythms.”

although bullet train is no longer in theaters, fans can still grab the 4K, DVD and Blu-ray editions later this month on October 18.
