Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra gets off to a flying start by pre-booking across the country. As of Sunday afternoon, Brahmastra has sold nearly 50,000 tickets across the three national chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis – which is easily the best for a Hindi movie in a long time. The film makes the best progress for an outright Hindi film since the release of War (2019) and it’s a big achievement as it was the need of the hour for a film like Brahmastra to hit the box office on opening day.

Looking at all the bookings in India, Brahmastra has sold over 65,000 tickets across the country and the count is getting stronger by the hour. The rise of Brahmastra has brought hope back to the Hindi film industry and it is now up to the content to live up to audience expectations. A Rs. A 20 crore start is final for Brahmastra and we have to see how much further the film can go.

The last movie to pay Rs. 20 crores on a non-public holiday was the Salman Khan fronted Dabangg 3, and it’s almost 3 years that another movie actually targets this number on a normal day. In pre-pandemic times, this would have been called a subpar number, but now it is an achievement that will be celebrated as business dynamics have undergone a major change in the past 2 years. The only Rs. 20 crore opening since Dabangg 3 is Sooryavanshi, who clocked Rs. 26 crores on the big post Diwali holiday.

By Wednesday night, Brahmastra will be making the biggest progress for an outright Hindi film in the past 2 years and Thursday will be all about taking that huge lead on the advance front. The momentum on Thursday will tell us how far Brahmastra will go on Friday. Brahmastra’s progress is even better than SS Rajamouli’s RRR in the Hindi belts, just behind the giant KGF 2.

In terms of collections, Brahmastra has clocked in at Rs. 2 crore in national chains with all India first day figures in Rs. 2.50 crore zone. There are still 4 days left before the release and the numbers will keep getting stronger from here on out.
