Bridgerton spinoff about Queen Charlotte gets a headline, first look photo

“Bridgeton” is the official title of Netflix’s prequel about the character Queen Charlotte.

On Friday, Netflix and Shondaland confirmed that the show would be called “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.”

The series, which stars Shonda Rhimes herself, follows the story of the younger version of the character who was made famous in “Bridgeton” by Golda Rochewell. Netflix also shared a picture on Friday, which shows Bharat Amarteifio as the young Queen Charlotte. More details about the limited series are expected on Saturday as part of Netflix’s TODAY global fan event.

“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” follows Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power. Rochewell (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmel (Lady Violet Bridgerton) reprise their roles from the main series.

In the cast are Michelle Fairley, along with Amarteifio, who plays Princess Augusta; Corey Mylchrist, who plays Young King George’ Arsema Thomas, who plays Young Agatha Danbury (Lady Danbury). The series stars Sam Clemet as Young Brimsley, Freddie Dennis as Reynolds, Richard Cunningham as Lord Butte, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury and Old Brimsley. Also included as “Bridgeton” actor Hugh Sachs. ,

Joining Rhimes as EPs are Betsy Beers and Tom Verica, who also directs.
