Following the release of the track listing, multiple concept shots and a music video teaser for his upcoming album, South Korean juggernaut BTS’ musician j-hope has dropped the music video for one of the two main singles.Arson‘ from his long-awaited solo album Jack in the box. As the album title suggests, the album presents j-hope’s jumping out of the box showing new, different sides of him and how much he’s grown as an artist.

Jack In The Box contains a total of 10 tracks:Intro’, ‘Pandora’s Box’, ‘MORE’, ‘STOP’, ‘= (Equal Sign)’, ‘Music Box: Reflection’, ‘What if…’, ‘Safety Zone’, ‘Future’, and “Arson.The smooth flow of the story in the album, starting with the first track and ending with the last track, is striking. j-hope participated in making the overall album of music, concept, design and music video, bringing out its own unique colors throughout the album.
The first two songs, “intro” and “Pandora’s box” tells a story behind the origin of j-hope’s stage name which comes from Greek and Roman mythology, ‘Pandora’s Box’. The double main tracks”LAKE” and “Arson” unfold the authentic stories of j-hope, from his pure passion to inner shadow and pain, proving his growth. The album also carries the essence of BTS affirming itself through music.
The official music videos of the two main songs, “LAKE” and “Arson” adding powerful energy to the songs. Pre-released on July 1, the music video of “LAKE” started with a box delivered to j-hop. The rooms behind the doors in a hallway each represented different sides of j-hope. As he walked through the rooms, he displayed his distinct charms and charisma. The last scene where j-hop closes the box in “LAKE‘ implied that the rooms are inside the box, and it smoothly leads viewers to the beginning of the music video for ‘Arson.”
In the music video of “Arson”, everything burns on fire and j-hope comes out of the fire and sings. It shows everything reduced to ashes and the white jumpsuit from j-hope is also charred. The video focuses on visualizing the passion and pain of j-hope standing at the intersection of choices for the next path.

j-hope teamed up with world-renowned artist KAWS for the cover of Jack In The Box. For his first mixtape Hope World (2018) and “Chicken Noodle Soup (feat. Becky G)” (2019), j-hope created album covers that visualized the message he wanted to express through his music. Such efforts arose from j-hope’s musical vision that placed importance on the visual experience of his music.
The album’s message of the pain, passion and ambitions of j-hope is reflected in the cover. It uses KAWS’s iconic use of precise lines and colors to visualize j-hope at the crossroads of choosing its next path.
On their first collaboration, KAWS said, “I was thrilled when j-hope invited me to collaborate on the cover art for his solo project. We’ve become friends over the years and I’m glad our paths crossed at this point.”
Through collaboration with KAWS, j-hope captured both acoustic and visual experiences in the album. He can boast of his abilities as a creative director that goes beyond being a musician.
On July 14, j-hope hosted a private listening party, inviting industry professionals such as musicians and directors, as well as friends he met while working on music. This new effort includes his efforts to get honest feedback and evaluation of his works into which he has poured his heart and soul, and to achieve further growth.
Moreover, Jack In The Box will be released on July 29 via ‘Weverse Albums’. j-hope will perform at Lollapalooza 2022 in Chicago on July 31 as the first main stage headliner as a Korean artist.
