CBS meteorologist Alyssa Carlson faints on-air (VIDEO)

Alyssa Carlson Schwartz, TV meteorologist in Los Angeles for CBS-owned and operated KCAL, fainted on the air Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at the beginning of the 7 am broadcast. Anchors Nichelle Medina and Rachel Kim were slugging it out to Carlson for the morning weather report when Carlson braced his arms on the desk, his eyes rolled back, and he nearly fell out of his seat and onto the floor. First bowed forward.

Both the anchors were shocked and asked to cut a commercial break immediately.

KCAL-TV never returned to its live newscasts, instead airing pre-recorded and promotional programming before leading into its coverage of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. TMZ reported,

Mike Dello Stritto, CBS Los Angeles vice president and news director, provided an update on Schwartz’s condition and said she is recovering in the hospital.

The station posted an update on Twitter and thanked viewers for their thoughts and prayers.

“All of us at KCAL News want to thank you for your thoughts and prayers after meteorologist Alyssa Carlson fainted during our morning newscast. Alyssa is now resting and recovering. She says she Will be fine,” the CBS station tweeted.

At the time of this posting, no one has publicly commented on the reason for Carlson’s fainting, although a similar incident happened to him in 2014, when he vomited on set while working at another station. It was later discovered that his heart valve had leaked.
