Christina Ricci was overjoyed to be asked to join on Wednesday

Tim Burton personally asked Christina Ricci to join the cast of Wednesday, something the actress said she was “really flattered,” and while many longtime fans were disappointed she wouldn’t reprise her role of Morticia and Gomez’s stern daughter in the early 1990s, they should be more than happy to have her. happy to perform as Mrs Thornhill, a polar opposite of Wednesday’s role. She previously said:

“I was really flattered that I was asked and asked by Tim. It’s fun to be a part of this next iteration of that character. It’s fun to watch and it’s fun to see how other people take things and what they put in themselves into something like that. It is super fun. I loved working with Tim [Burton]. I worked with Gwendolyn Christie; It was amazing. And Jenna [Ortega, who plays Wednesday] is incredible. I saw some of the wardrobe pics before going so I knew [what she looked like in character], and I was like, it’s such a great modern take on Wednesday. It’s so true tonally to the heart and soul of [the original]but then it’s incredibly modern, and it’s great.”

The logline of the new series reads:

Wednesday seeks to master her emerging psychic abilities, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery her parents were embroiled in 25 years ago—all while exploring her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body.”

Netflix had not previously announced who would play the role of Uncle Fester in Wednesday, who was also revealed in the new trailer as Fred Armisen. While it was originally announced by Netflix and Tim Burton that the reveal wouldn’t take place until the show airs, it seems that many trending internet rumors about the role go to someone like Johnny Depp or even Christopher Lloyd’s return to the role of the eccentric. Gomez’s brother may have meant that another month would be too long for such speculation to grow.

Wednesday arrives on Netflix on November 23.
