Former “American Idol” contestant CJ Harris has died of a heart attack on Sunday, TheWrap has confirmed.
Harris, who was a contestant on the singing competition show, died in Jasper, Alabama, while being taken by an ambulance to Walker Baptist Medical Center. CPR attempts failed.
“I am in complete shock. Your talent and smile will be missed, and the world is definitely a darker and eerily quiet place without you,” Jessica Meuse, a fellow “American Idol” season 13 contestant, wrote. in an instagram post “I will miss your random phone calls asking for life advice and talking about the world of music,” recalled Harris.
Harris first appeared on “American Idol” when the show held its 2014 auditions in Salt Lake City with judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. During her time on the show, she performed standout versions of “American Woman,” “Too Close” and “Free Fallin,” and she made her way through the ranks as a top six finalist before being eliminated.
Harris was born and raised in Jasper, Alabama, and is the father of two children.
