Colbert imagines dorky priests who use ‘eHoily’ dating app as Pope Mules, reverses celibacy requirement (VIDEO)

Stephen Colbert and the greats on “The Late Show” couldn’t hold back after Pope Francis hinted at reviewing the Roman Catholic Church’s rule of priestly celibacy.

Francis was originally against the idea, but recently said in an interview that celibacy is a personal “discipline” rather than a “contradiction” to the Church. This change of course led Colbert’s fake news alert team to imagine what an online dating site called “eHomely” would look like for priests who are on the hunt.

“Have you taken a life-long vow of celibacy? But now Pope Francis says, ‘It’s OK to date.’ Introducing ‘EHomely’, the dating site where you can find a girl for yourself,” said a voiceover for a fake advertisement as a news reader started closing the segment after breaking the development. “Dating site where you can find him for your hymn.”

The commercial featured a couple talking about going out to dinner.

“We love romantic dinners. Of course, he never pays,” said the woman.

The priest replied, “I have taken a vow of poverty.”

“He has a nice car though,” said the woman.

“It turns out that a thousand-year tradition was only a temporary recipe. So now, Pastor, it’s time to live it up,” added the voiceover.

Another couple appears and profess their love to each other, as the commercial for “eHomily” continues.

“I love him,” said the woman.

“And, I love him,” replied the priest and pointed to the sky.

The parody commercial ends with the voiceover saying, “So what are you waiting for? Because it’s a church. It’s a steeple, and it’s a website for meeting singles.”
