Devilish, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Renewed for Season 2 Months Prior to Premiere

You may not know, but Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will be the next big thing in animation. The new Disney Channel series, based on Marvel’s popular comic books, hasn’t even premiered yet, but already has a small — but growing — dedicated fandom that’s devilishly excited about the upcoming series. And it seems that Marvel and Disney Branded Television also have faith in the animated series. forward Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur first season premiered on February 10, 2023, the series has already received a season 2 extension. The news, along with a clip of the theme song written and produced by Raphael Saadiq, was announced Saturday, October 8 at New York Comic Con.

Based on Marvel’s popular comic books, Moon girl and devil dinosaurCreated by writers Brandon Montclare and Amy Reeder, and artist Natacha Bustos, the animated series follows the adventures of 13-year-old super genius Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White) and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur (Fred Tatasciore), who she accidentally travels through time to present-day New York City. Equipped with Devil’s fierce loyalty and strength, and the loving support of her family and best friend Casey, Lunella sets out to make a difference and protect her Lower East Side neighborhood from danger.

Besides White and Tatasciore, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur regulars of the first season include returning Marvel star Alfre Woodard as Lunella’s grandmother, Mimi; Libe Barer as Lunella’s best friend and manager, Casey; Sasheer Zamata as Lunella’s mother, Adria; Jermaine Fowler as Lunella’s father, James Jr.; Gary Anthony Williams as Lunella’s grandfather, Pops; series executive producer Laurence Fishburne in the recurring role of The Beyonder, a curious and mischievous impostor, and in secret roles of Omid Abtahi, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Michael Cimino, Indya Moore and Craig Robinson. As for the guest cast, fans can expect a star list of actors including Alison Brie, who will play Aftershock, Gideon Adlon, Pamela Adlon, Anna Akana, Ian Alexander, May Calamawy, Andy Cohen, Wilson Cruz, Daveed. Diggs, Asia Kate Dillon, Luis Guzmán, Maya Hawke, Jennifer Hudson, Dr. Mae Jemison, Josh Keaton, June Diane Raphael, Paul Scheer, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Cobie Smulders, Tajinae Turner and Wesley Snipes.

Produced by Disney Television Animation, the series is executive produced by Fishburne and Helen Sugland’s Cinema Gypsy Productions (blackish) and Steve Loter (Kim Possible). For season two, Rodney Clouden (futurama) and Pilar Flynn (Elena of Avalor) are co-executive producers; Kate Kondell (The Pirate Fairy) is co-executive producer and story editor; Halima Lucas (East of La Brea) is co-producer and story editor; Ben Juwono (Big Hero 6 The Series) is co-producer and accompanying director; Chris Whittier (Big Hero 6 The Series) and Jose Lopez (Transformers Prime) are art directors; Rafael Chaidez (Kung Fu Panda) is a producer.


Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Theme Song Revealed

Earlier this year at San Diego Comic Con 2022, it was revealed that three-time Grammy Award winner Raphael Saadiq had been named executive music producer for Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, will debut on Disney Channel on February 10 before moving to Disney+. Saadiq rose to fame as a member of the multi-platinum soul/R&B band Tony! Tone! Show! and has previously collaborated with Marvel on Luke Cagewhere he played his songs “Good Man” and “Angel” at Cottonmouth’s club, Harlem’s Paradise. Throughout his extensive career, the musical genius has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globes and 15 Grammy Awards.

The Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur theme song, “Moon Girl Magic”, was written and produced by Saadiq and performed by series star Diamond White. However, the animated series has promoted itself as a heavy music component as the actors and producers discussed what fans can expect to see in early 2023, including a musical episode. According to AIPTduring a brief question-and-answer session at the NYCC panel, it was revealed that Fishburne’s The Beyonder would be singing a Broadway-esque musical number at one point!

The Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur soundtrack, from Walt Disney Records, is scheduled for release on February 10 and will feature songs from the first season. Check out the theme song below:
