It was amazing. My journey with Agent Movie was actually quite exciting. I’ve been associated with them for two years now and we’ve seen different stages of the movie and I’m glad to be a part of it. Surender Reddy watched The Empire, liked my performance and thought I would be the perfect choice for it. Also Read – Khuda Haafiz 2 star Vidyut Jammwal to marry Nandita Mahtani in London soon? Have you been offered any Telugu project before or was Agent the first one to come to you? What made you excited to take it up?

This is the first project I received from Telugu film industry. It got me excited because of the way the character was written. I play a spy who has gone rogue due to various circumstances and after what he has been through. He’s not a normal opponent… he has his reasons for changing into what he is now. And the film is made on a huge canvas. Director Surender Reddy has made some great movies just like the production banner. I also had to work with Mammootty sir. I felt this project was the right thing to enter Tollywood.

Mammootty is one of the superstars of the Southern film industry. What was it like working with him?

It was more than feeling great. When he’s on the sets, the charisma and vibe are just so different. You just need to observe him and learn from him. That’s what I did. I share a lot of screen space with him and it was a pleasure to work with him.

Were you also asked for any physical transformation?

No. My role was more to portray different looks. I didn’t have much to do with physical transformation. Surender Reddy wanted me to look different in different cases and I just did what they wanted to make it look better.

Akhil is a dedicated artist. What was it like working with him?

He is a young champion and has a long way to go. He was great as an artist. He worked hard for this film and that hard-working nature is one of his greatest assets. He gave everything to Agent. I want this movie to work for all of us.

You have been a part of Tamil and Malayalam movies before, right? How was the Telugu film industry?

The Tamil movie I made was in 2000 and I did it for my friend who is the director of the movie. Malayalam movies, it was more of a cameo that was for a friend again. I haven’t played a full role yet, but one is underway and will hit theaters soon. Telugu film industry is great to work with. Everyone is so professional and they are all so passionate about movies. That’s something I loved.

There’s been a hole in your filmography lately. Is this gap intentional or is there another reason?

I didn’t want to take a break. The break was not my idea at all. I just didn’t want to take on everything that came my way. Some of the scripts were so bad that when they were later released I was glad not to be a part of them.

I hope we can see more in Tollywood then.

Yes. Naturally. I’ve already received some offers. Fingers crossed.
