Paramount+ released a teaser trailer for season 5 of Star Trek: Discovery on Saturday 8 October 2022, Star Trek universe panel at New York Comic Con, featuring series actors Anthony Rapp (Commander Paul Stamets), Wilson Cruz (Doctor Hugh Culber), and virtually beaming in from Season 5 in a Gary Mitchell-esque way, was series star Sonequa Martin – Green (Captain Michael Burnham), and executive producers Michelle Paradise, Alex Kurtzman and Rod Roddenberry. The teaser was introduced by Martin-Green and revealed a first look at several new characters that will be introduced in Discovery‘s fifth season, which included Captain Rayner, played Callum Keith Rennie (The Umbrella Academy), along with Moll and L’ak, played by Eve Harlow (the 100) and Elias Toufexis (the vastness), respectively.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 cast members are Martin-Green, Cruz, and Rapp from the NYCC 2022 panelists, as well as Doug Jones as Saru, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, and Blu del Barrio as Adira. Also returning is David Ajala as Cleveland “Book” Booker, a character who was convicted of his crimes and sent to a Federation labor camp in the Season 4 finale, seemingly ending his long-standing relationship with Captain Burnham (and just then Queen Grudge ended up liking her too).
