Disney Animation Immersive Experience Invites Guests Into Walt Disney Animation Studios Movies

Walt Disney Animation Studios recently announced that it is partnering with Lighthouse Immersive Studiosthe producers of the blockbuster Immersive Van Goghdevelop Disney Animation: Immersive Experience, which will have its world premiere in Toronto, Canada in December. Later in 2023, the experience will debut in the United States and other parts of the world.


Walt Disney Animation Studios has been creating iconic animated stories since 1923. In a unique partnership, Disney Animation will join forces with Lighthouse Immersive Studios, the largest creator of experiential projection exhibits in North America, to develop a sensory experience that showcases the music and artistry within the studio’s film canon as it has never been seen before. From today’s hits like Encanto, Zootopia, and Frozento all the classics, including The Lion King, Peter Panand Pinocchiowhen the Disney Animation: Immersive Experience opens in December, audiences will feel like they’ve entered the incredible worlds of beloved Disney characters and become one with them.

“Like so many of us, I have a lifelong love of Disney movies,” said Corey Ross, the founder of Lighthouse Immersive. “I grew up with them from childhood and so did my family. The work lends itself to the immersive experience, and I am confident that this program will give our guests the opportunity to be immersed in the world of Disney, making them feel like they’re standing next to their favorite characters and seeing the world through their eyes.”

Miles Dale, who won a Best Picture Oscar in 2018 for The shape of water and recently worked on nightmare alley with Guillermo Del Toro, who said: “Breakthrough in a new medium is always exciting, and this will truly be the most challenging and rewarding project of my career. It is a great honor to entrust Disney’s rich animation archive, but also a huge responsibility. With such a wealth of material and a wealth of memorable characters, it will be a thrill to bring the work of all the great Disney animators and artists to life in a 360-degree immersive environment.”

Cocolab, located in Mexico City partners with Dale and the Creative Legacy team at Walt Disney Animation Studios to develop the program for Lighthouse Immersive Studios. Also on the team for Disney Animation is Oscar-nominated Special Projects Producer Dorothy McKim and Lighthouse Immersive’s Global Creative Director David Korins, who is a Tony Award winner for Fat Live and whose credits include more than 20 Broadway shows, including: Hamilton.

Disney Animation: Immersive Experience will debut at Lighthouse ArtSpace Toronto in December 2022 and will then debut in the US in Cleveland, Ohio, before heading to Nashville, Detroit, Denver, Boston, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Minneapolis and Columbus in the first four months of 2023. More cities are planned and Tokyo will be the first city outside of North America to use the Disney Animation: Immersive Experience.
