Regardless of whether Star Wars fans are 9 years old or 99, there are few who wouldn’t love to grab a lightsaber and duke it out with Darth Vader. While there are plenty of them available if you’re willing to accept having a plastic tube attached to them, the time for the true lightsaber now seems to have arrived as Disney has given the world a glimpse into the impressive piece of Star Wars equipment.
Having previously been patented by Disney and subsequently rolled out at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel, the SXSW Festival gave Disney the chance to show the world the lightsaber in action as part of Creating Happiness: The Art & Science of Disney Parks Storytelling panel. Bringing the magic to the stage, Josh D’Amaro, President of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said of the panel:

When it comes to the evolution of the lightsaber, it’s pretty spectacular to watch, but that doesn’t mean everyone agreed with the idea. You can watch the video and some of the less than impressed reactions below.
Star Wars will be making a big screen comeback in the years to come
The Star Wars The universe has largely been confined to the small screen, carried by shows like The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi And Andor, but it now looks like Lucasfilm is poised to bring the franchise back to theaters in the next few years. However, there is currently no definitive idea of what this return will look like.
That became apparent last week Star Wars Kevin Feige and Patty Jenkins projects previously alluded to were no longer moving forward, while Taika Waititi and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s are now believed to be moving forward. Somewhere in the background, Rian Johnson’s potential additions to the franchise may still be arriving in the future.
One thing that has become clear is that Lucasfilm now wants to shift the focus of the movie Star Wars saga away from the period between The Ghost Threat And The Rise of Skywalker, where all of his TV projects and movies have stood for the past four decades. This could mean that we will see new characters and a new saga appear in the franchise, but the real question is whether this is something the franchise needs, or whether the story of the franchise has really been told in the years of the Skywalker saga and should not try to go further.
