Walt Disney Studios has released the official trailer for the new animated film Strange world. The film, which hits theaters on November 23, follows three generations of a family uniting for an exciting adventure. You can get a taste of the film by watching the new trailer below.
according to Disney, Strange world introduces “a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an unknown, treacherous land along with a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog, and a slew of voracious creatures.”
“Inspired by classic adventure stories, Strange world is an original animated adventure/comedy about three generations of the Clade family who overcome their differences as they explore a strange, wonderful and often hostile world,” director Don Hall said of the film.
The voice cast is led by Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a family man who is out of his element on an unpredictable mission; Dennis Quaid as Jaeger, Searcher’s larger-than-life explorer father; Jaboukie Young-White as Searcher’s 16-year-old son, Ethan, who longs for adventure; Gabrielle Union as Meridian Clade, a veteran pilot and Searcher’s partner in everything; and Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, the fearless leader of Avalonia who leads the exploration of the strange world.
room (Great Hero 6, Raya and the last dragon) co-directs Strange world with writer Qui Nguyen (co-writer Raya and the last dragon). The film is produced by Roy Conli (Great Hero 6, confused).
Family is the heart of strange world
Speaking about the film at Disney’s D23 Expo, voice actor Jake Gyllenhaal explained why he was attracted to this particular project. Based on the directors’ work, along with the film’s focus on family, it was a no-brainer for him to get involved. He was able to relate to the story based on the relationships he has with his own family members.
“As soon as Don and Qui threw it at me, I was moved, like I was crying,” Gyllenhaal said screen frenzy. “I think for me I’m very close to my family. As I get older, you know, the generations of our family, understanding and misunderstanding of each other is kind of what makes up such a big part of our lives. And that’s what this movie is about. All these misunderstandings, and we think we’ve changed when we haven’t, and where we think we are, but we need our family to remind us where we really are, and to to be right sometimes and sometimes wrong. It’s pretty good, this story.”
Strange world will be released in theaters on November 23, 2022.
