Here’s Dolly! NBC’s “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas” airs on the network on December 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The revered artist and inducted into the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame star is about as himself in the making of modern-day film musicals. A live TV special.
First announced in August, guest stars include Miley Cyrus (Parton’s granddaughter), Willie Nelson, Jimmy Fallon, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmy Allen and Zach Williams, as well as cast members Tom Everett Scott, Anna Gastair and Angel Parker. The cast includes Mary Lane Haskell, Brian Batt, Brendan Bradley, John Newberg, Rachel Parton George, Cassie Parton Griffith, Rhoda Griffiths, Liam Rohoff and Steve Summers.
The meta film unfolds with a “frantic backstage story and delightful on-camera results of Dolly, who at Christmas aspires to lift the spirits of a weary world by sharing the unique mountain magic found in and around Dollywood.” During the film’s production number and rehearsal chaos, Dolly finds herself taking a personal journey into her past, guided by the mysterious appearances of her personal Three Wise Mountain Men. David Rambo will write and executive produce with Sam Haskell and Parton. Joe Lazarov will direct and executive produce. Hudson Hickman will executive produce and Billy Levine will serve as producer.
