It’s that time of year again, the MTV Movie and TV Awards are back, and this time Drew Barrymore will be hosting the event.
“We’ll be there, will you?” Barrymore says while channeling the killer AI doll from the movie “M3gan” in a video reveal.
“And now, for a breaking report from Drew’s News, we turn to our special correspondent, M3gan,” Barrymore says in the promo video while spotting an M3gan. Thank you, Drew. In fact, I have news for you. You are hosting the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards. How interesting.” You can watch the full video above.
The video then cuts back to Drew, who says it’s an honor to have been cast in the role, adding that this year’s awards will go to the fans.
“I’m a fan and you’re a fan of scary movies, right?” Barrymore questions. The clip then cuts to a person dressed as the ghost face from “Scream.” The cameo is a nod to Barrymore and his role in the first film in the “Scream” franchise. He also yelled “Cocaine Bear,” which premiered last month.
The host of “The Drew Barrymore Show” took home three golden popcorn, winning her first for “Best Kiss” for “The Wedding Singer.” She was also awarded Best On-Screen Team for “Charlie’s Angels.” In 2020, Her Talk Show was nominated for Best Talk Show/Theme at the 2022 MTV Movie and TV Awards.
Broadcasting internationally in 150 countries, the evening will highlight and honor popular movies and television shows that are beloved by fans. The awards ceremony will take place live from Barker Hangar on Sunday, May 7 at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.
