Elizabeth Olsen Named Best Villain for Doctor Strange 2 at MTV Movie & TV Awards

Elizabeth Olsen has her third win at the MTV Movie and TV Awards. Olsen previously won two awards at the 2021 event for her role as Wanda Maximoff in the hit Disney+ series WandaVision. She won the Best Performance in a Show award, along with the Best Fight award, the latter shared with Kathryn Hahn. At Sunday’s event, she was again nominated for the same character, but for her performance in the film Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, turning Wanda into a villain. So many fans appreciated the performance that they voted Olsen the winner of the Best Villain award, an award previously won by Hahn for WandaVision.

Directed by Sam Raimi and written by Michael Waldron, Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness also starred Benedict Cumberbatch in his return as the titular Marvel hero. In the film, he teams up with a mysterious teenage girl, America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), to travel the multiverse to face alternate versions of herself and other threats. Olsen’s Wanda becomes the Scarlet Witch in the film, serving as the antagonist and greatest enemy of Doctor Strange.

There were some great nominees for the Best Villain category. Aside from Olsen for Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madnessother nominees included Harry Styles for Don’t worry honeyJamie Campbell Bower for Stranger thingsJenna Davis and Amie Donald for M3GANand the CGI join in Cocaine Bear.

The best villain of 2023 has been named

The Best Villain award has been part of the MTV Movie & TV Awards since 1992, when Rebecca De Mornay became the first-ever winner for her role in The hand that rocks the cradle. It was briefly renamed the Best On-Screen Dirt Bag award in 2012, a year Jennifer Aniston won for her role in the film Horrible bosses. The following year, however, it was named Best Villain again. Last year, Daniel Radcliffe won the award for playing Abigail Fairfax in the film The Lost Citywith other winners in recent years including Kathryn Hahn for WandaVisionJosh Brolin for Avengers: endgameMichael B. Jordan for Black PantherJeffrey Dean Morgan for The living Deadand Adam Driver for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

On the other side of the coin is the Best Hero award. For this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, the winner of that honor was Pedro Pascal for his role as Joel in HBO’s The last of us. He competed against Jenna Ortega for WednesdayDiego Luna for AndorPaul Rudd for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaand Tom Cruise for Top gun: Maverick. While Cruise was not awarded this award, he notably won the Best Performance in a Motion Picture award at the event.
