Grogu

The alien formerly known as Baby Yoda (among fans) was born in a Jedi temple on the planet Coruscant during the time of the Galactic Republic and was trained by multiple Jedi Masters before Order 66 was issued. As seen in flashbacks in Boba Fett’s book season 1, Grogu saw three Jedi killed by the 501st, but he got lucky and managed to escape by going into hiding. He remained hidden for years by masking his Force powers until he was finally discovered by the Mandolorian Din Djarin while on a bounty hunt. Now Grogu travels everywhere with him as his companion.

Cere Junda

Cere Junda was a former Jedi Knight and Jedi Seeker before the destruction of the order and was one of the few who survived Order 66. Her story is told in the video game Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Orderwhere she was a mentor to the Padawan Cal Kestis and formerly Trilla Suduri before being lost to the dark side during the rise of the Galactic Empire. After Order 66, the former knight severed her connection to the Force before going into hiding. She would later join the crew of the Mantis on a quest to overthrow the regime that destroyed the Jedi Order.

Taron Malicos

Another character from The fallen orderMalicos was once a respected Jedi general during the Clone Wars before his own Troopers turned against him after Order 66. He escaped the Great Jedi Purge and made his way to Dothamire where he was eventually driven insane by the dark energies of the planet, forcing him to the dark side. After meeting Cal, he tries to lead young Padawan to the dark side twice, but fails in both attempts. He was later defeated by Kestis and Merrin before being buried on the planet that had driven him insane.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

After defeating his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar, he proved himself one of the greatest Jedi of the Star Wars franchise, Obi-Wan heeded Yoda’s warnings and went into hiding on Tatooine to avoid the watchful eye of the Empire. As fans of the franchise know, he would face the man he trained one more time before introducing Luke Skywalker to the way of the Jedi and training him to use his burgeoning Force powers. The series Obi-Wan Kenobi explored the time of the Jedi Master in exile and his disconnection from the Force. The series has been critically acclaimed, with many speculating whether they have seen the last of the Jedi.

Yoda

Yoda was overseeing the conflict on Kashyyyk, the homeworld of the Wookies, when he was fired upon by Clone Troopers. Fortunately, the Jedi Grandmaster was skilled enough to direct the clones and survive. Parallel to Obi-Wan’s fight with Anakin, he would go to fight the Emperor during the final act of Revenge of the Sith. After a fierce battle, Yoda resigned himself to a self-imposed exile on Dagobah, and would not be seen again until the events of The Empire Strikes Back.

Kanan Jarrus

Originally known as Caleb Dume, Kanan Jarrus was the Jedi Padawan of Depa Bilaba during the Clone Wars. Thanks to his master’s sacrifice, Jarrus would survive Order 66 and continue to form the Rebellion with the help of the crew of the spaceship the Ghost. The story of Kanan Jarrus is part of Star Wars Rebelsand his voice could be seen among the cacophony Rey hears during the final events of The Rise of Skywalker.

Cal Kestis

Featured in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal Kestis was a Padawan of Master Jaro Tapal when Order 66 began. A combination of luck and ingenuity allowed Kestis to escape the Clone Troopers’ path of destruction, but lost his master in the process. After living in hiding, Kestis joined a small rebel cell along with fellow Jedi survivor Cere Junda and began working against the Empire. During their travels, they encountered another fallen Jedi known as Taron Malicos on the planet Dathomir. The likeness and voice for Cal Kestis was provided by actor Cameron Monaghan, who fans hope will return in live-action.

Ahsoka Tano

One of the most loved characters in the whole Star Wars franchise, Ahsoka Tano was a Padawan of Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars. By the time Order 66 was issued, Tano had become disillusioned with the Jedi Order and left to follow her own path. After a confrontation with the brainwashed clones, Tano briefly took part in the battle against the new Galactic Empire before going into hiding. She would later reappear on the hit show Star Wars: Rebels, where she would confront Darth Vader. She would then appear in Disney+’s The Mandalorian where she was asked to train Grogu. Soon, actor Rosario Dawson will reprise his fan favorite character in a new series about the former Jedi.Related: Tales of the Jedi Trailer Breakdown: Count Dooku and Ahsoka Take the Stage

The Grand Inquisitor

A former Jedi Temple Guard, the man who would become The Grand Inquisitor witnessed the trial of Ahsoka Tano and became disillusioned with the Jedi Order in much the same way as the beloved Padawan. After falling to the dark side, The Grand Inquisitor was approached by Darth Vader to lead The Inquisitors. His story continues in Star Wars Rebelsand he also appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi as one of the main opponents.

the inquisitors

There were at least 12 known inquisitors in the period between Revenge of the Sith and A new hope, and each of them was a fallen former Jedi. Some Inquisitors, who have been explored in comic books, television shows and video games, have been given more character development than others, namely Trilla Suduri, known as the Second Sister of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderand Reva Sevander, aka Third Sister of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Other Inquisitors are canonized and act as Jedi fighters under the command of the Grand Inquisitor and Darth Vader himself.

Luminara Undulic

Luminara Unduli was a Jedi master and mentor to Barris Offee, a Padawan who would clash with Ahsoka Tano during the Clone Wars. Although she managed to survive Order 66, she was captured, tortured and murdered by the Grand Inquisitor shortly afterwards. An image of her was used to lure Jedi to their deaths in the events of Star Wars Rebels.

Other Jedi Survivors

An underrated fan-favorite Jedi, Jocasta Nu was the keeper of the Jedi Archives, where knowledge and information about the greater universe was stored until its destruction during Order 66. The 2017 Darth Vader comics show a showdown between the villainous Sith Lord and Kirak Infil’a, another Jedi in spiritual exile who nearly got the upper hand from Darth Vader in a duel. Those comics also mention four Jedi survivors who haven’t been explored much in visual media: Oppo Rancicis, Coleman Kcaj, Ka-Moon Kholi, and Selrahc Elous. Also in that comic series is Ferren Barr, a brutal Jedi bent on avenging the Jedi Order using methods similar to the rogue Saw Guerrera. A novel for young adults called Force Collector introduced Naq Med, a former Jedi dedicated to collecting artifacts and knowledge related to the Force. Other confirmed Jedi survivors include Eeth Koth, Zubain Ankonori, Uvell and Quinlan Vos. Their fate beyond Order 66 is either terrible or unknown. It’s possible their stories could be decanonized by future Disney+ shows, but until that happens, their names will be among those who survived the genocide of Order 66.
