“The White Lotus” Season 2 just ended on HBO, capping off weeks of tension that built up during the second installment of Mike White’s Emmy-winning anthology series. There will definitely be a “White Lotus” season 3, as HBO officially renewed the series for a third season just a few weeks into the November 18 airing of season 2. In fact, Season 2’s ratings and critical reception were strong, so HBO was quick to order another course of holiday intrigue.

Season 3 will have a new cast and setting
Just as Season 2 featured an entire cast and location reset, “The White Lotus” Season 3 will feature new characters and a new locale. Season 1 was set in Hawaii, Season 2 took place in Sicily, so now begins the speculation as to where the third season will take place.
HBO of course confirmed that Season 3 will take place in another White Lotus location, so we’ll be following the adventures of the guests and staff at another fancy hotel once again.
Just as any characters from Season 2 might carry over into Season 3, Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya returning for Season 2 remains to be seen but there are a few contenders (namely Portia).

The only tease we’ve got about the setting for season 3 comes from creator Mike White himself, who Told Deadline in October said he was looking at possibly setting up a third season in Asia.
“I think maybe it would be fun to go to a different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.
Japan specifically came into play when White was asked if Coolidge would return for a potential Season 3.
“Jennifer is my friend and everyone loved her in the first season, and I was like, ‘I can’t go to Italy without Jennifer.’ And that’s probably still the case. Like, maybe you can’t even go to Japan without Jennifer.”

Speaking of Mike White, yes the producers will return as showrunner (and hopefully writer/director) for season 3. The “Enlightened” creator has personally written and directed every single episode of “The White Lotus” so far, so it’s safe to say the show wouldn’t have been the same without him.
“There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and no one I’d rather work with than Casey Blois, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team,” White said when the show was renewed for a third season. was renewed. “I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity again and look forward to reuniting with my amazingly talented colleagues on ‘The White Lotus.'”
But when will ‘The White Lotus’ season 3 premiere?
How long until “The White Lotus” Season 3 will actually hit HBO’s airwaves has not been disclosed. Filming hasn’t started yet, nor has the cast been announced. HBO hasn’t confirmed or revealed any sort of airdate or gameplan, but season 2 arrived a year after season 1 first aired, so the network will likely try to stick to a similar release strategy.
