Filmmaker Karan Johar returned with season 7 of Coffee With Karan but this time on the digital platform Disney+ Hotstar. The new season saw several new couples on the couch as the show ended with 12 episodes and an award season special episode. Next year, the show returns with a brand new season. Speak with Bollywood Hungama recently, the filmmaker talked about enjoying the season, but he also pointed out how seriously people take the show.

“I enjoy every season. I love it. This season has done phenomenally well and I am very grateful because there was a moment when the pandemic started and so much was written. There was a time when I questioned my decision to do the show again. It wasn’t until two years later that I realized that I want to live my life the way I want to, kind of a life and I don’t want to change my way of being because certain parts of people have things to say. I want to do what I like. Making coffee with Karan makes me happy. The fact that it’s done so phenomenally well for all the episodes out. Hotstar is excited and we are all excited as a team,” Karan told Johar Bollywood Hungama.
He continued: “Of course there was so much feedback coming in, like ‘Why is Karan talking so much about Alia?’ “Why does he talk so much about people’s sex lives?” And actually I don’t think about these things Maybe I’m curious about people’s sex lives so I asked about it Maybe I’m very proud of Alia and it comes up in every conversation of mine So we have to watch myself when I get that feedback. I read it. But what amuses me is that it’s the wrong long columns people write and I’m like, ‘It’s just a talk show, and that’s not even a cerebral talk show.’ It’s a frivolous fun talk show But people have really analyzed it in long columns and I’m almost amused that they have all the time in the world to analyze the show I wouldn’t give it that much time I don’t know why they to be.”
Professionally, Karan Johar .’s next direction is Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film is slated for a 2023 release. The filmmaker also plans to direct an action entertainer with hopes of starting the shoot in April 2023.
