Filmmaker Karan Johar always makes headlines. While he may have enjoyed the lavish success of Brahmastrawhich was produced by Dharma Productions, he is also working on the post-production of his next directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Speak with Bollywood Hungama recently the filmmaker spoke at length about his career, social media and more.
EXCLUSIVE: Karan Johar says he misses Rishi Kapoor on social media: ”If Chintu ji were here, he would have really given a kadak jawab to people who say strange things”
During the rapid-fire segment, when asked to name a star of yesteryear who would now be making waves on social media, the filmmaker couldn’t name one, but he did say that many veteran actors are definitely rocking it on social media now. But he does miss Rishi Kapoor. “Well, Mr. Bachchan is a living legend doing it on social media. But other than him I guess and I miss Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) because he was so funny and so incredibly candid that I think social media really misses it Every time I feel like the industry is going through some turbulence , I think ‘If Chintu ji were here, he would have given a really good, kadak (firm) jawab (answer) to many of the people who said a lot of strange things. But from the old days I guess I mean all of them are, a lot of them are still, I like Dharam ji (Dharmendra) Instagram videos, I love them too. I can’t think of anyone at the moment. I think a lot of them would have been very shocked to, I would say, deal with the trials and tribulations of social media,” he shared. Bollywood Hungama.
Professionally, Karan Johar .’s next direction is Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film is slated for a 2023 release. The filmmaker also plans to direct an action entertainer with hopes of starting the shoot in April 2023.
