The second season of the political drama Maharani starring Huma Qureshi aired last month. The actress is, needless to say, loved in the titular character of Rani Bharti. In the latest interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actress shared how she likes to experiment with characters. The actress confessed that while it is easy to categorize actors, she is someone who finds playing similar characters boring.

In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood HungamaHuma Qureshi said: “Unfortunately, with actors, people like us who are in front of the camera, it is very easy to place us. I get the kind of reviews for Maharani because people from the past 10 years know who I am. I’ve seen in my movies, even interacted with me, seen me in my interviews, seen in the public eye. So when they see me playing a character, they often say, We didn’t know she could do this, because they never got me. After Maharani season one, not even season two, I had five movies and a show where I had to play a Bihari woman. And I was like, no, because I did. I have nothing else to offer. I gave everything I had – every ounce of that thing I had, I give to Rani Bharti. So I have nothing new to offer.”
She added: “But if there’s something new that you’re going to challenge me to, then I’m ready. That’s why I chose to do a Tarla, that’s why I chose to do double XL. So I chose to do a Monica. These are things that inspire me because I’m not going to repeat myself in every character that is boring. It’s really boring to play and watch.”
Speaking of her upcoming movies, Huma Qureshi will star in the role of culinary legend Tarla Dalal in her biopic Tarla, she will be featured in the movie Double XL alongside Sonakshi Sinha – a movie about fat shaming and on Netflix -suspense thriller Monica, oh my darling with Radhika Apte and Rajkummar Rao.
